HE/HIM/HIS

Entrepreneur, producer, manager, and entertainment consultant Ian Burke is known to hip-hop and R&B artists as "Dreamweaver"—a nickname that reflects his extraordinary talent for building relationships and using those connections to make the most of opportunities as they arrive. Regardless of your own professional aspirations, Burke's inspirational story serves as living proof that the best way to rise is by lifting others.

Known to hip-hop and R&B artists as the DreamWeaver, Ian F. Burke is a person who encourages and uplifts people when they share their dreams—regardless of how far-fetched they may seem. Instead of putting down an idea and branding reasons why it won't work, he looks for ways to make it happen. Burke’s unique ability to see the untapped areas of potential that others overlook has served him well throughout the course of his 30+ year career in the entertainment industry. This gift, combined with his skills in artist development, A&R, marketing, promotions, management, and publishing, has earned him a reputation as a trusted advisor for those who are looking for a way to turn their creative visions into reality.

Burke’s contributions to Atlanta’s music scene are undeniable. Beginning his career as head of the hip-hop department at Ichiban Records, a Georgia-based label/distribution company, he focused on working with new underground hip-hop artists such as Flint Michigan’s own MC Breed. At Elektra Records, he helped introduce the world to Atlanta's signature genre of bass music by signing the then 15-year D-Rock, who later became one half of the Ying Yang Twins, with his signature song What’s Up, What’s Up, the teen R&B group Mista featuring a young Bobby V, and discovered chart-topping Senalegalise singer and songwriter Akon. As Senior Director of Creative Affairs for the American Society of Composers Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), he set out to introduce new sounds and talent from the South—concentrating on urban alternative, R&B, hip-hop, and rock. This effort aided in re-branding ASCAP as the industry leader representing the hottest producers/songwriters in the South, including Jermaine Dupri, Polow Da Don, Shekspere, Tricky Stewart, and The Dream.

Over the years, Burke has put his stamp on a diverse group of acts by creating musical concepts that resonated with audiences around the globe. Keeping his ear to the streets to look for performers with a distinctive story to tell, he played a pivotal role in creating and branding acts such as Arrested Development (Chrysalis/EMI), TLC (LaFace/Arista), Outkast (LaFace/Arista), Kris-Kross (Ru House/Columbia), Xscape (So So Def), Sole` (Dreamworks), Debra Killings (Verity/Jive), and Blaque (Track Masters/Columbia). As a consultant to Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def label, he brought new recording artists Jarvis (So So Def/Jive) and teen actor/singer/songwriter Maestro Harrell (So So Def/Island) to the forefront, as well as Playmaker/So So Def producer Chadron “Nittibeats” Modore. Burke continues to work with both established and up-and-coming musical artists through his two companies: Launchpad Records and Greenhouse Management.

While Burke is best known for his contributions to the Atlanta music scene, he’s currently doing a bit of personal rebranding and expanding his focus to include the city’s burgeoning television and film industry with the introduction of 360 Digital Media Group, LLC. In addition to launching the careers of child performers such as Jaylen Xavier Blackburn, Navia Robinson, and the McClain Sisters (China Anne McClain, Sierra McClain, and Lauryn McClain), he’s utilizing his storytelling skills on two distinct passion projects. The DreamWeaver is a behind-the-scenes look at Atlanta’s music scene in the 1990s and features stars such as Jagged Edge, Mr. DJ, Bobby V, Kandi Burruss, Speech, Goodie Mob, and Organized Noize. The Aquatics is an innovative "docuseries meets scripted TV" concept inspiring young people to develop a deeper understanding of the impact of climate change on marine life and the world around them.

Believing the best way to rise is by lifting others, Burke has made it a priority to give back to those in need throughout his career. At Elektra Records, he raised $50,000 to aid in the restoration of churches burned throughout the South by organizing a benet concert featuring performances from acts such as Mista, Akon, Keith Sweat, Silk, Michael Speaks, Goodie Mob, and Kut Klose. In 2017, he was honored at the President Obama Volunteer Service Lifetime Achievement Award Ceremony. The Ian Burke Emergency Transition House broke ground on August 14, 2021, and will provide temporary housing and mental health resources for veterans in crisis.
