Karl Heilbron

Karl Heilbron is a live/studio engineer based out of South Carolina. He has worked on more than 37 platinum albums and has four Grammy nominations. Worked on the Grammy award winning song “Black Hole Sun” by Sound Garden.

He started his audio career in the early 90’s as chief engineer at Southern Tracks studios in Atlanta. Artists he worked with included Kings X, Pearl Jam, Keith Sweat, STP and Rage Against the Machine. Also work on Soundgardens Grammy award winning album “Superunknown” and Aerosmith for the Wayne’s World 2 soundtrack.

His work with Keith Sweat led him to be Chief engineer of his private studio The Sweat Shop and engineer for many albums and tours. While there he engineered sessions for 2Pac, LSG, Kut Klose and Silk. Also engineered and mixed the hit singles “Freak me” by Silk and “Nobody” by Sweat. Later out on tours with Keith, NSync, Britney Spears, New Edition and Brandy followed. After, he started work with Lisa “left eye” Lopes on her solo album “Supernova” and work with TLC.

Then worked with Jeezy as his personal engineer and touring recordist. His work had lead him mostly out on the road as FOH/TM for Pain of Salvation and Klone. FOH for Adam Doleac as headliner and support on the “No bad vibes” arena tour with Old Dominion. TM/Foh for Carbon Leaf and FOH/guitar tech for Al DiMeola. Also Karl worked as FOH for the Spinners, Jacob Bryant, Jason Aldean, Miyavi and Norma Jean.

He has recently dipped into the theater world with work as FOH for Nutcracker! The Magical Christmas Ballet, New Jack City and Superfreak, the Rick James Story. This summer he is back out on the Happy Together Tour featuring the Turtles. He’s looking forward to a great 2024 season.
